About us

We are Grip ‘n Rip Fitness, a family-run gym that offers Functional Fitness classes, personal training, nutrition coaching, Sweat classes and open gym hours to help you achieve your fitness goals. We are located in Secunda, a town in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

We started our gym in 2018 with a vision to create a community of fitness enthusiasts passionate about improving their health and performance through functional and varied workouts. We wanted to share our love for Functional Fitness and its benefits with others and inspire them to live a healthier and happier life.

Meet the Owners

PJ and his wife actually met in high school, and 6 years later they were married. In 2013 to be exact.

Their love story didn’t just end right there.. they wanted to do amazing things in this life and do it together. They have three children (so far) two boys and a girl.

By chance, one year ago, PJ, a broker by trade, heard about Grip’n Rip coming onto the market because the previous owners were moving to Australia. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

After playing rugby professionally for 12 years, he was looking for something to fill the gap in his life where his beloved sport used to be. CrossFit delivered nicely in terms of competitiveness and a great challenge. It was precisely what PJ needed.

It grew from strength to strength. They added the SWEAT component to the box and have since continued to grow.

“Our goal is to develop a community through Grip and Rip for kids, parents, people seeking friendship, and those pursuing a healthy lifestyle. People who want to be better humans and who are actively committed to making that happen.

Our number 1 goal is to serve the community and find new and exciting ways to do so. We want to create a turn-key fitness centre where you can get everything done under one roof.
